Concept / Konzept
DDS – Die Deutsche Schule is a professional education journal, by which the “German Education Union” (GEW) wants to contribute to the scientific foundation of education and offers an orientation with regard to current discussions and developments in the educational system. DDS supports the exchange of scientific knowledge and connects those colleagues, who do theoretical and conceptual research in the fields of education and training, and those, who work in educational institutions, especially in leading positions, or who act as political and administrative decision makers. The topics include all aspects of educational processes and comprehend all relevant disciplines and fields of practice. The DDS is committed to the principles of educational equality and equal opportunities.
The editorial staff makes sure that these standards are met and develops them further. The DDS presents and communicates scientific findings, which may forward the democratic development and the quality of educational institutions, may promote educational processes, and may contribute to the advancement of educational professions. Fundamental and educational historical articles are welcome, too.
Each volume normally includes some articles with regard to a focus topic and one or more other articles from science, politics, and pedagogical practice; besides, the journal comprehends information about research projects and reform approaches, as well as reviews and conference reports. All manuscripts and texts, which may refer to each of these categories, should be written in a target group related style. Normally, the – well readable – articles should not be longer than 8 to 10 pages (about 25.000 to 30.000 characters) and concentrate on topics, which are important for multipliers and managerial staff in the fields of education. Each volume may also include one especially important and well readable article that comprises about 60.000 characters. Authors are asked to adhere to the style recommendations for manuscripts. ⇒ Information for Authors
